Christmas Stocking

The Christmas Stocking is worked top-down from the leg to the toe. The stocking is worked in stockinette stitch and the heel is shaped using short rows. The stocking is felted at the end before the name is embroidered, the edge is folded and sewn, and a leather loop is attached.

Length of leg: 40 cm [15¾ inches]

Length of foot: 30 cm [11¾ inches]

Measurements after felting: Width: 17 cm [6¾ inches]

Length of leg: 34 cm [13½ inches]

Length of foot: 26 cm [10¼ inches]

Gauge: 15 sts x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 5.5 mm [US9] needles before felting

Needles: 5.5 mm [US9] / 40 cm [6 inches] circular needle and 5.5 mm [US9] double-pointed needles (or an 80 cm [32 inches] circular needle if you’re using the Magic Loop technique)

Materials: 200 g Fritidsgarn by Sandnes Garn (50 g = 70 m [77 yds]), leather strap: 45 cm, 2 Chicago screws
