Karen’s Bonnet is worked back and forth in smocking stitch from the front edge towards the back. The number of stitches is first increased and then gradually decreased from the front towards the back, so the bonnet fits closely to the head. The back of the bonnet (crown) is worked on double-pointed needles and shaped with decreases. At the end, a drawstring casing is worked along the neck edge.
