This knitting pattern is in English.
The Sunday Balaclava is worked from the top down in rib, which at the neck transitions to a circular yoke with rib and increases. First a square is worked for the top of the head. Then stitches are picked up and knitted along both sides of the square and the balaclava is worked back and forth down to under the chin, where it is joined to be worked in the round in rib and shaped with increases. At the end, a rib edge is worked around the face opening.
Sizes: 6 months–1 year (1–2 years) 2–6 years
Fits head circumference: 43-46 (46-49) 49-54 cm [17-18 (18-19¼) 19¼-21¼ inches]
Gauge: 26 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in rib (k2, p2) on 4 mm [US6] needles after wash
Needles Circular needles: 4 mm [US6] / 40, 60 and/or 80 cm [16, 24 and/or 32 inches] and 3.5 mm [US4] / 40 cm [16 inches]
